Master Jay, good morning. There are actually marches in a lot of neighborhoods, both related to the shooting of George Floyd, but also as a reaction to regular gun violence. They aren't as highly publicized and picked up by the national media, but it isn't unusual to see them covered briefly on the local news every so often.

Not a march, but an organization that tries to help stem violence in a number of neighborhoods

4 aldermen/women attempting to curb spending on after-the-fact issues of gun violence. I'd be interested in seeing what NY and LA do and how much they spend rather than just saying "Chicago spends less". That unfortunately doesn't help their argument. This is obviously an attempt to help reduce a decades-long problem in Chicago. I don't know if this is at all part of the solution, but it's an interesting debate. It seems like it goes along somewhat with your call for more youth programs.

Along with what others have said, unfortunately some people call for abolishing the police. Obviously, dealing with actual shootings and murders make police a necessity, and there are articles I included in which residents of some neighborhoods are advocating for more police presence in their neighborhoods to help reduce shootings and gang violence.

Being a white guy, I wouldn't last very long in Englewood if I put on a yellow vest and marched up and down the streets, telling everyone I see that "Black Children's Lives Matter". I don't think it would help me much to put my palms at shoulder height and add, "Hands up, don't shoot". More police? Yeah, that'll work, especially today. Let's see, maybe if we elected a Democratic Governor, a Democratic African American Mayor, a Democratic African American President of the County Board, an African American Chief of Police, African American Aldermen, African American school principals, teachers, and board members, African American police, empty the jails due to Covid, and in the event of a riot, let the folks with pent up anger burn and loot virtually un-heeded, and....and....aw, never mind, it's all been done already. I guess we could ask BLM what their suggestions are, but they won't be happy until I, and ten generations of my children, are enslaved, because, well, gotta even up the ol' scorecard, you know. Sorry, ain't gonna happen, that's a hill I'm willing to die on.

I guess we could throw more money at those at-risk neighborhoods. Let's see, when I was working, I was paying five percent income tax, the second highest property tax rate in the country at approximately 3.5 percent of my home's actual value, and close to the nation's highest sales tax rate of close to ten percent. Plus, stupid amounts for taxes on cell phones, utilities, gasoline, cigarettes, booze, etc., there is NOTHING that isn't taxed in Cook County. So, nah, no thanks to that, it's to the point where it's cheaper to sell my house at a loss and just move on to greener pastures at this point; in fact, that's the exact plan, but a different thread.

So my Best Solution is to install firing ranges at every school in the city. No, really, there is a YouTube channel called "The Proper People" who do Urbex (urban exploration). In one video, they explored an abandoned Detroit high school that was probably built around the turn of the century, and the thing had a gun range inside of it, no kidding. So, if we make the gangbangers better shots, and maybe even give them some laser sights, then they could at least hit what they're shooting at (each other) instead of three-year old kids, and then it's just between themselves, as it should be.

Wait a minute! how about gun control, Chicago (and Illinois) could pass really restrictive laws on the sales and possession of guns, and...and...wait a minute, we're already one of the most heavily restrictive states in the country with respect to gun control. But maybe....just maybe....we could actually ENFORCE the laws on improper possession of guns by prohibited people (minors, felons, those without a FOID, etc.), but hey, that's just crazy talk right there. In the meantime, enjoy the 4th of July, spent trying to figure out whether those pops off in the distance are Ladyfingers or 9MM. Don't forget to duck.

Your last paragraph is perfect and spot on. Nothing to add except restricting guns doesn’t help, restrict all you want, ban them completely and they will still be available to criminals and law abiding people won’t be able to defend themselves.

Where is BLM?! What were the races of murderers and victims? Races seem to always be pointed out when there is a white person pulling the trigger.

I think people are doing that on a pretty regular basis in their own neighborhood. If a march or protest doesn't inconvenience a larger population of the city, it doesn't seem to get acknowledged by a larger population all the time. The local news provides some coverage. But what is not true is that people are ignoring every day gun violence.

Thank you for the breakout.

Could it be, that BLM is silent on this, because it goes against their agenda to defund the police, and actually proves that the police are needed?

Note that I am calling out "Black Lives Matter" the POLITICAL group, and not the sentiment "Black lives matter", which no one in their right mind can argue against. The political entity "Black Lives Matter" is a pseudo Marxist group bent on moving American society further left than has been suggested to date, and tearing down the institution of laws and law enforcement is key to making this happen. The nitwit corporate hacks in the U.S., and untold Hollywood stars, don't have a CLUE as to what they are actually donating to. They "think" they are promoting justice, but in actuality are buying catapults and sledgehammers for the Visigoths whose aim it is to sack their cities. In a democracy (actually, representative republic), there are ways to change society that are legal, but they require consensus at the ballot box. These clowns want to subvert that system, and we as "normal citizens" are allowing them to do it. People, it is time to stand up to this mob, and demand that our elected officials enforce our laws, something that the mayors of our largest cities have not done so far, wasting millions (billions?) of dollars in property destruction. Which either makes them complicit, or culpable. They need to be thrown out of office for dereliction of duty - I nominate Mayor Lightfoot to be at the head of this list.

Anyone that does NOT know that the BLM is a fully Democratic funded organization, fully on board with ALL the current Democratic party is trying their level best to bring about.....CHAOS! ANTIFA is yet another of their pets.......with George Soros footing the bill. Sadly most Americans just don't put this together. It's all quite a convenient time frame they raise their rage. Most don't make the connection. I and a number of folks I happen to know have. But it most certainly won't be on the news......that's for sure

I needed a place for a summer and a friend was living up in Roger's Park. It wasn't where I wanted to be, but I was really trying to stretch some dollars while starting a business. The roommates were rarely around, most were semi-living with their significant others. Came home one night for the 10:00 news and it was the opening story. Shooting in Roger's Park. I was like, that looks familiar. Opened the front door and sure enough, across the street was all taped off.

It was easily my least favorite neighborhood to live in. Seems like the only speed trap in the entire city was off the top of LSD from people trying to get the hell out of there quickly. I quickly moved. Even in the find fingers in the pool days, East Humboldt Park was definitely better...though I guess it's called something else now.

Unusual fact for Rogers Park credit though. Some smart Chicago guys that grew up on Roger's Park to middle class families went on to found JMB Realty (amongst many others) that at one point was one of the largest landowners/developers in the country. They've got to be old now, but they were a definite force across the country for awhile, and some of the richest men in the country.

Defining the Democrats loosely. Biden had asked Klobuchar to begin vetting. Assuming she was going to make it, that leaves the socialists out in the cold (which is where they should be). The best way to disrupt that would be to wait from something bad to happen in the Minneapolis police department. When it did, they capitalized and placed insurgents throughout the US. There are risks inherent with police forces all the time, but they needed one in Minnesota.

The protesters and rioters (different groups) were both prepped in advance and organized.

Klobuchar is likely done now. The socialists will push for a Warren type.

The origins of this is all orchestrated, but they've gotten better at applying pressure. I never thought I'd see corporate America cave, but...they're about to make a lot of Americans very unhappy as well.
