do all street parking meters in and around Chicago accept app payments? or are there still old-school coin-only meters? (credit card)

newbie here... (literally just got here 3 days ago)

do all street parking meters in and around Chicago accept app payments?

or are there still old-school coin-only meters?

I guess what I'm asking is whether or not I should continue to have a bagful of quarters in my car's armrest... at my previous city, they have not kept up with technology and at least half of the meters were coin-only.... so I always had at least $20 in quarters at all times.

I've been seeing them ALL with having to use your credit card now. the coin slots don't accept quarters even, not sure why... but the few times I've had to use them, i had to swipe a credit card in those squarish looking devices.


i haven't seen any of the old fashioned parking meters where they are oval-shaped and you put quarters in there.


Better have your credit card, as this is what is most likely you will find. but put some quarters in your pocket just in case you do find one.
