Places like the Gold Coast are neighborhoods in the heart of Chicago, so they don't fit the bill either. The original post should provide more details about what is meant by the Beverly Hills of Chicago because it's hard to answer.
Yes sorry about that, should've provided more details in orig post .

Yes, mainly ultra-wealthy neighborhoods/suburbs that also happen to be where a decent amount of famous people live (athletes, news anchors, authors, actors/actresses etc. count). Mansions galore. Upscale shopping nearby as well. A place you will see a lot of luxury vehicles and some supercars.

Obviously there is no direct Beverly Hills anywhere but Beverly Hills, but I thought it would be interesting to see . What may come closest?

I also probably should've just provided a "North Shore" option

The Gold Coast, and it's not even close. Beverly Hills is at the center of Los Angeles' West Side, a very urban area (even if it looks suburban), the region's main high-end shopping drag (Rodeo = Oak Street), and largest/second-largest corporate employment center (Century City = Michigan Avenue/Loop). The North Shore is decidedly more suburban and more comparable to the Pasadena/San Gabriel Valley area, in my opinion.

The North Shore cities and villages are bedroom communities, whereas Beverly Hills is a significant center of activity. But, I could understand why people might be led that way on aesthetic terms.

I don't know why all these people are babbling about Beverly, but as nice as a neighborhood it is, it's certainly no Beverly Hills.

Oak Street, Rush, Chestnut, Viagra Triangle, and a few bisecting streets in the Gold Coast are the closest approximations. Northern Michigan Avenue too. But those are stretches.

Beverly in Chicago is nice. A lot better than the smoggy crowded Beverly Hills!

Robert9, you gave me a homework assignment. This morning I looked in my book, The Chicago 77, to read up on the Beverly neighborhood.

Plus, I met a nice couple on Saturday while dining outside on the south side, and the man was from Beverly.

In any event, Beverly apparently was named for Beverly, Massachusetts. And the "Hills" comes from the fact that it was next to the Blue Island Ridge, which is one of the highest elevated regions in that area.

And Beverly Hills in California was named some years afterwards, with no connection

So if my mind goes back to Beverly Hills, 90210, I recall "ritzy" predominately Caucasian with huge houses teens running around... That said, I don't know! The closest to a Chicago city neighborhood.....: Lincoln Park?

Buckhead in Atlanta is very similar to Beverly Hills, as are the Park Cities in Dallas. I'd probably add Scottsdale, but it certainly is significantly more decentralized than Beverly Hills. The former two are just like Beverly Hills in that they are right near the core of the city, within the inner-ring, while being major focal points for wealth, shopping, and employment.

Having spent a weekend in Buckhead, they appear poor when compared to BH or WPB.
Great restaurants though!
