Although I certainly don’t agree with pelting non-aggressive police officers with bricks & projectiles, I do have to ask - are there not hundreds of other people the Italian community can commemorate, who didn’t have a direct role in initiating the Trans-Atlantic slave trade?

I’m also not really buying into the “anti-Italian” take. I highly doubt that’s what’s on these protester’s minds...

Perhaps, and this is the debate that needs to be had. But thugs cannot be allowed to just topple a statue because they don't like it, or attack police officers.

Agreed. I definitely think a referendum would be the best way to go about it, seeing as the most vocal people are going to go to the polls.

I do not get it - she's afraid he's gonna send them? Mad? Why is she changing her tune?

I am highly offended by the Hyatt Hotel on Michigan Avenue because it oppressed its striking housekeeping workers a few years back, and it is owned by a family that contains greedy billionaires. Do I get to burn it down?

If Trump gets re-elected in November, remember all the riots and mayhem that happened in 2016? I wont be surprised if this will be worse in response to 2020.

I think some of this mayhem was happening in order to destroy Trump from being re-elected, and if so, its adding up like a crescendo.

You know what happens to all that pent up emotions if you try real hard to eff up someone and then it turns out they win anyway.. you know the rioters and anarchists will let it out because they will have been defeated.

Oh yeah that was the one where the Hyatt workers were banging pots and pans and were so annoying that they were not only annoying the Hyatt hotel but also the residents who also live right near the hotels.

I definitely think "mainstream" Democrats and the media are trying to use it for that purpose. Absolutely. They're playing a dangerous game with this IMO, as we're seeing first hand. But the radical left cannot really be satiated until they reach their ultimate end goal, which is socialism.

I think you're right about them rioting if Trump wins. I also think the Federal response will be more aggressive in that case than what we're seeing now. But I wouldn't vote with the illusion that this is all going to go away if Biden wins. It won't.

Well, I guess it's no longer an issue, little Arnold Drummond had both of Chicago's Columbus statues pulled down last night. Funny part is, they probably had to drive down Columbus Avenue to get there, and parts for the cranes used to do the dirty deed probably came from Columbus, OH.

But it's going to be a failed experiment, next week The Mob will demand the removal of the Hancock Building - the feminists won't like it because it's long, and BLM won't like it because it's black, and the Socialists won't like it because it was erected by an Insurance Conglomerate. Come to think of it, the Lesbians won't like it simply for being "erected", period. So if one percent of one percent of the city's population no longer likes something, all they have to do to get it removed is throw a tantrum on the Mayor's block. Beauty, Larry, you should be SO proud, you've once again helped make Chicago such a WONDERFUL place to live. That is, if your definition of "wonderful" is "laughingstock". Hey, maybe a good old-fashioned book burning can be held on Michigan Avenue tonight? The Chicago Library is close by, and after all, they probably have a copy of "Tom Sawyer" somewhere on the shelf. And there MUST be something in that big building with the lions out front that is offensive, may as well remove that as well.

Chicago: Where Fascists performing Fascist acts in the name of being "anti-Fascist" get their way with the full support of the Mayor - Priceless.
