This house has no backyard, only a deck in the back. It has a sideyard which is not accessible from inside the house and is quite cut-off from the house. How functional would a sideyard like this be? Anyone has any experience dealing with a situation like this? Any ideas to alter this situation? If one were to put a door in the wall facing the sideyard, one would be entering the sideyard through the living room.

You'd have to install french doors off the LR.

Build stairs from the deck to the side yard?
It would help if there were pics of all sides of the building.

Well there's a good shot of the side yard on Google Street View here.

By the way neeshra, you asked in a different thread about whether this is North Park or Forest Glen.... since it's on the east side of the street, it's North Park.

Default Good idea, BUT...

Stairs and/or a deck would give the access to the sideyard, but any of those "side yards that face a street on two sides 'cuase its a corner" setups are just awful. The traffic makes it feel you are sitting in the middle of the intersect. If you have pets they'll always be barked at by dog walkers. If you have kids you'll worry that some creep is getting his jolly while they are wrestling in the sand box.

Just because a guy can drive a pickup doesn't make him a developer. This is one situation where some one with a little experience would have said "these stock blueprints on this lot my technically fit on the buildable area, but it sure WON'T FIT IN and no one in their right mind will pay the inflated asking price we'd need to make a profit on this"...

Oh, I agree for the most part. lol I was just trying to answer the question without being too critical of the overall choice.

I would not pay even 400k for that place.

Drover, that was a good try, but that's not the place. Look at my picture again.

Many opinions expressed here are some of my concerns too. This side yard is fenced off on all sides and has no connection whatsoever with the backyard - it just sits isolated on one side. To give access to the yard from inside, the living room wall would have to be broken to create a door and steps leading to the yard.

After having some of my safety concerns endorsed here, I think I should just forget this house and save myself a lot of trouble.

OK, I looked at your picture again.... and yes that is the place. Same color, same fence style... Hit the "Zoom Out" button and you can see the second-story window and the sandstone-colored layer around the second story.

Drover, your link took me to 3700 Milwaukee ave. Is that the one you are looking at? BTW, how do you set up a link like the way you did? That's cool!
