P.S. Good job buying cars from out of state. My last 2 vehicles were from out of town WI, MI. Saved some money.

No line when I went yesterday. Actually no one was even there I got in and out very quickly (after taking out the time for me to track down some paperwork I needed).

Noon for the first time. I thought given lunch hour it would be packed. No line at all. Then went back at 430pm when I had right paperwork and no people again. The DMV was another story...line around the block. I have seen a line at the City Hall sticker place before so I think it's hit or miss. I always recommend a weekday on an odd hour during the day and you can get in/out pretty quick.

I’m not afraid of COVID. I am deathly afraid of lines. I can only imagine the dmv.

If you get a ticket while you have the temporary tags, they have no way of finding you in the system. You may wind up being able to ignore the ticket. If the ticket is written to a VIN#, they can't find the corresponding license plate. However, they may have changed things.

But once they get the IL license plate, you must get the sticker and right away. You're better off going to the Clerk's office and buying it same day versus mailing the application in.

That northside clerk's office has always been too small to begin with. There's only room for about 6 people to stand indoors even without social distancing. I went to City Hall around lunchtime on a Friday a few weeks ago and there was one person in line in front of me. It took maybe 10 minutes.

But don't get me started on the DMV....

It's pretty easy for them to find you. The temporary tags are registered under your name. That's how police find you if you commit a crime in a car with temporary tags.
