I live on the Northside. While I love living here, I am starting to get fed up with the parking situation. The last two apartments I had I was able to manage the parking a little better. I have since moved again and the parking has gotten even worse. Parking can be difficult on the Southside too, especially in Hyde Park.

Getting rid of my car isn't an option. Where did any of you move to in the city or burbs when you got burned out on the parking issue?

Unless you can afford a place with a garage or space, you better get used to it. I have a pied-a-terre in Wrigleyville that I use a few times a week. I don't have a dedicated parking space.

When I first moved in last year, parking was difficult to get a hang of. But, once I figured it out, I could avoid ending up being stuck with a metered space and needing to move the car by 8 AM. COVID came around and parking suddenly became easy as could be. It was like everyone retreated. Now, things are even worse than they were before. I've now had to park blocks away multiple times the past few weeks.

Parking is very low on my list for reasons to move.

Parking is easy by me. Never an issue at all. But I'd like to keep it that way.

Kmanshouse, I will NOT give my secret of my parking spots away! But I am familiar with where you are (one of my favorite neighborhoods!).

P.S. I ended up buying some apple shaped cookies, and some chocolate bars last weekend there.

Looking like another good weekend coming up.

Wishing up everyone good parking WHEREVER you go!!

I hate to say it, but convenient parking increases greatly with your budget and what you can afford. The higher your budget it, the easier parking will be.

If you can afford to live in a nice building, it will have a parking garage with convenient parking. It will likely be around $200/month, but you are paying that high of a price to not have to deal with the headaches of parking.

I'm not sure where in the city you can find convenient, affordable parking. I'm guessing maybe somewhere on the northwest side, convenient and affordable parking with apartments may be available, given that there is more space in that part of the city.

If you want it for free, you have to go little bit further north, south, west. Otherwise, might as well just pay because the parking tickets and the inconvenience will add up.

When I lived in those areas, I had a bicycle as well but that’ll only get you so far. This was back when not too many peeps were riding. I’ve had multiple close call accidents and doors opening on me and one day I flipped over the handlebars. As I laid there writhing in pain and unable to breathe, I said to myself no mas. And I don’t blame the car drivers. The roads were initially made for cars, NOT bicycles, electric skateboards and scooters. I see people riding in winter time and I think they’re nuts. I feel sorry for them.
