So, our choice is between Kim Foxx (too soft on crime) and Pat O'Brien (corrupt prosecutor who oversaw wrongful convictions, such as those in the Lori Roscetti case).

So, what's the right choice here?

Almost anyone is better than Kim Foxx, so O'Brien it is. Catch and release of violent criminals has to stop.

I'm voting the whoever the third party candidate is on this one. IMHO both of these candidates are unacceptable. Why did the Republicans, full well knowing plenty ahead of the time that Foxx is problematic, put up a wrongful convictions candidate?

I think this is a no-brainer. Pat O'Brien should, but won't, win the election. Wrongful convictions happened more often in the past, and some will no doubt occur going into the future. However, I don't think you can put the blame on the prosecutor who is simply operating based on the evidence available. The Chicago Tribune has endorsed O'Brien, and they endorsed Foxx previously.

Prosecutors don't decide guilt, jurries do. Unless there was misconduct like concealing evidence or such I'm not sure how a wrongful conviction is O'brien's fault. He just presents the evidence and the people's case.

Even if he made mistakes, the choice between someone who made honest mistakes and someone possessed with an insane ideology that criminals don't need to be punished or removed from society would be an easy one for myself.

Because we don't have a real two party system. The Illinois Republican party is a decoration at best.

O'Brien's main selling point is he's not Foxx. Not very strong but I'm willing to give him a shot.

I voted O'Brien in November, but am not surprised(sigh) Foxx won. I just wish one of Foxx's Democrat primary challengers in March could've beaten her, such as Conway or Moore.

Definitely am still on the 'anyone but Foxx' train, and I still believe that to this day. Would be nice if someone primaried her in 2024, or if Pfannucke (the other GOP challenger who lost to O'Brien in 2020, but was the nominee in 2016) tried again.
