fusillirob1983, good morning. Maybe one day I will take a trip to Naperville to see how it is. I haven't been there for about 3 years. It might remind me of a woman I dated, that introduced me to Naperville. So maybe I don't WANT to go!!! LOL

I still need to do the far south Chicago trip. That might come first!

Sprintbox, good day. HOW are you going to do me like that??? You said Naperville was overrated, after I posted that I need to get back there!

Curious, though. What is it about the Norridge/Harwood Heights area that you find underrated?

Have a great day!

Lol....

I find the Norridge area overlooked for its cleanliness and closeness to food/stores. It retains its ethnicity as well. It's certainly close to both downtown and O'Hare as well. And forest preserves are nearby as well. Have a great day as well!

Sprintbox, good call.

I know Norridge/Harwood Heights is the island in the city.

I don't spend too much time there. I've been to their library once. And they have a nice park. Usually I just wave to it as I drive down Harlem..

But yes, I appreciate the safe and clean environment, too!!

Overrated: Naperville, Hinsdale, Elmhurst, Oak Park.

Underrated:
River Forest -woodsy and more bucolic than Oak Park but proximity to Oak Park businesses.

Downers Grove (although I think it’s getting more popular?) - more down to earth alternative to overrated Naperville and Hinsdale.

Glenview and Northbrook - kind of get overshadowed by more ritzy North Shore burbs to the east. Good schools and mature neighborhoods with nice homes, both older and newer.

Yes, Harlem Ave is a major street and it'll take you WAY down to the southern burbs. But even close to Norridge, it'll get you (HARLEM) to Elmwood Park, or Edison Park.

I so miss that area. I hope to make my way back there to finish off the rest of my life eventually.

Sprintbox, you know D*MN well that Edison Park is one of my hangout joints!!

And the Elmwood Park/ Montclare/Galewood is another area I really like.

I've taken Harlem as far south as 35th Street.

Great times!!

I could not stand some of the people in naperville. I use to work downtown Naperville and they would have "Naperville" parties and loathe over each other and how great Naperville was.

Orland was a nice area for a while. After they closed down Matteson mall, Orland Mall became ghetto. The pace bus would go to Chicago Heights then just drop off these random people off that would loiter at the mall. The rest is history.
