They are actually for the wireless providers. They expand the LTE networks in areas of high demand. You can see that they have the wireless signal logo on them.

Yes, that is what I heard. I think shot spotter have CPD logo on them.

That's right, part of the small cell system that enhances coverage, likely for 5g.

Some suburbs have been putting up obstacles to allow these. Can't take away from the attractiveness of a light pole!

That may depend on the pole style.

A bigger reason might be that in many states utilities pay a franchise fee to jurisdictions and these wireless units have been exempted by many legislators from that.

Electric utilities also raise Hell about them because they're getting no income from the power used.
