Don Cuccino, make me # 21, my friend....

You are definitely right about something else: I have come to know MANY people in the Chicagoland that prefer to stay in their general area.

In the dating world, for example, it can be difficult to find a southside lady that wants to meet up on the northside. (Sometimes I think: I am coming from Milwaukee, WISCONSIN, and you don't want to drive 20 miles or LESS?!?).

But I understand; to each their own....

I have a group of friends that like to come into Chicago when I'm down there, to ride bicycles or hang out, or whatever.

I have introduced a lot of people from here to Chicago, and they always LOVE it!

NY isn't too different...plenty in the outer boroughs find it a huge hassle to go into the city.

In the 90's I recommend a bar in Bucktown to a girl that lived on the southwest side. She said no thanks, "that's on the northside right, isn't that full of gay bars" Not kidding.

Ycomoque, me gusta su nombre!

Interesting comparison of New York City and Chicago! Well, I do like the Chicago outer ring suburbs, too.

But I like to hang out IN and OUT of the city. I don't pick a side

Gracias hermano.

I'd have to say when it comes to chi I like the city a lot more than most of the burbs aside from a few in the inner ring. whereas in NY I have a soft spot for (at least certain parts of) Jersey. That being said...LI is hell on earth imo.

Same here in Cleveland. East Siders don't go west; West Siders don't go east. All because you have to cross a bridge over a river/valley... sigh. I'm an exception and there are others who are, too. Although I see some evidence that the divide has considerably lessened since I moved back.
