Well, this throws a kimk into my plans. I've been looking at Google maps thinking there was a train there when trying to find my place. I just talked to people who have a place I'm going to look at Tuesday and they said it's closed. Anyone happen to know how long it is closed for? Are they closing lots of stations? Anywhere else I should know about Google lying to me?

You need to be more specific: Paulina and where? The station at Howard and Paulina is most assuredly still open.

I think he means the station that's actually called Paulina and is actually closed.

It's scheduled to re-open by March 2009. In the meantime, it's not a horrific walk from the Paulina stop to the Addison stop (walk two blocks up Lincloln and you're there) or to the Southport stop (walk 3 blocks down Roscoe and you're there).

The Irving Park, Damen and Wellington stations are also closed. Wellington is also scheduled to re-open in March 2009 and the other two by late November/early December 2008. After that they are finished with the station closings.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. This place I was looking at is right next to Hamlin Park. So, I may end up passing on a one year lease on it based on that info. Neither of the alternatives sounds like an enjoyable late January walk.

Back to Craigslist for more searching. If anyone happens to know of a great location studio/1BR for $1100 (if no heat/parking) or $1200 (if heat/parking are included) or less where me and my easy going German Shepherd can frolick, please PM me. Thanks.

If the place is right by Hamlin Park, walking to Paulina/Roscoe isn't all that convenient to begin with. I'd either walk to Belmont and take the #77 to the Belmont Brown/Red stop, or take the #50 Damen bus south to the Damen blue line.

Yeah... from Hamlin Park, it's the exact same walking distance to the Addison station as to the Paulina station. So at any rate, if you're looking to be close to an L stop, being near Hamlin Park doesn't sound particularly ideal whether the Paulina station is open or not.
