Hi all! I am getting antsy to travel and while I can't go to ACTUAL Italy, I thought I'd film a mini tour of Eataly in Chicago. If you are visiting it is in the popular River North in downtown, so it is a worthwhile stop to even just walk-through if you are in the area. This is cheesy but I hope you enjoy.

I'm wasn't about to open the link, but there are already 100 + videos available relating to Eataly.

Just another chain. A more upscale chain, perhaps, but a chain nonetheless.

Was just trying to spread a video I had fun making. Never said it wasn't one of many.

We used to have a food truck here in Indianapolis called Little Eataly. It had been around for a few years, a little before the time of Mario Battali's Eataly*. Well, fast forward a few years after that and Mario Battali's empire stepped in to sue the little food truck in Indianapolis. The court case was a huge drain on the Eataly food truck, who eventually had to re-brand, and they never recovered financially. They closed up shop a couple years ago because Mario Battali's Eately thought people would be confused about a global chain founded after a little food truck in little ol' Indianapolis.

Anyway, cool video I guess.

*I know Mario isn't affiliated with them anymore, he was the at the time and was the public face of the litigation against a food truck in Indianapolis. The same Indianapolis that has zero Eataly restaurants, and likely never will.

Now that I've lived in the city for 2 years, I find any sort of touristy Chicago destination almost gag-worthy - but Eataly is cool, and unique and I'd like to visit there again.

There are some good things there. I love the hot chocolate, and the coffee and gelato is also pretty tasty.

The fresh pasta is fantastic. And their dried pasta section is the best I've seen anywhere. Great wine selection too though a bit over priced. It's really a great store if you want Italian foodstuffs.
