I've had a lot of luck with Apartment People, both for finding my own residence and for leasing out. I found my previous apartment in Uptown (a cozy $550 studio), and signed the lease, in one day. Depends on how picky you are in the end.

I am in the same boat as decker and a previous poster. I have been looking for places in wicker park and bucktown for months, but i have been rebuffed by apartment services and landlords alike because I was "looking too early". Problem is, I am getting married in June and have to move in July. So most of june is shot for me. I have been looking on craigslist and using services (as much as they will let me) as well, but we all know how reliable those can be. Getting worried that we won't be able to find a place in the nieghborhood we would love to live in and in our price range (900- high 900's). If anyone has any leads shoot them my way. We are going back up to Chicago after the honeymoon for like a two maybe three day blitz of wicker park/bucktown/U-village. Narrowing the field has helped, but I have the feeling that simply walking up and down the streets will bare the most fruit. We will see. Starting a new life in Chi-town and would like not to hate our first place.
My fiance is a teacher and I am an actor, so we are pretty stable people with good credit, that makes me feel better.

P.S. has the rent gone up in the last eight weeks, or is it just me?

Good luck ot everyone looking!
