Well, does having my car vandalized last night/this morning for the 7th time count? (And that doesn't count the hit-and-run...)

Total number of times my car has been vandalized in Chicago: 7
Total number of times it has happened anywhere else on Earth: 1

I guess you kind of expect it to happen once in a while around here. After 7 times though, it adds up. Total damage so far, not counting the hit and run: approaching $3,000. This is the kind of crap that makes people want to retreat to the suburbs. The utter lack of respect for other peoples' property in this city is disgusting.

I'm so sorry. That is horrible. Vandalism may seem like such a little thing because it doesn't hurt you physically, but it causes psychological damage and a loss of trust in people in general. It's hard to fix that.

That sucks. Maybe someone does not like you. Have any ex's that hate your guts? 7 times is more than enough for a lifetime. Did this happen by your house?

Right in my driveway. Probably while I was awake even. But it wasn't personal -- they got 3 others on the street too.

... and that's another reason I'm glad I don't have a car.

that and the fact that my boss received a $100 ticket in the mail and it took her 15 minutes to figure out why.

A friend of mine had his car stolen three times in Milwaukee (the same car). The vandalizing is probably harder to deal with in the end.

You have a driveway in Irving Park? I thought you lived in an apartment?
Oh well, I still think someone might have it in for you.
7 times in the amount of time you have lived in the city (what is it 10 years?) is very weird.

Yes I have a driveway in Irving Park. It's actually fairly common around here. And yes I live in an apartment.

I know that two of the incidents were motivated by personal animus and I know who did it (but I couldn't prove it, unfortunately). But the others have just been random acts of BS.

Were all of the incidents in Irving Park? Did you **** off some neighborhood kids or something? It sounds very threatening to me...
