There is a certain charm/beauty to the classic NY neighborhood at the street level, with the brownstones and mid-rises in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Try Chicago's Gold Coast Brownstones. Breathtaking.

The Chicago PEOPLE I have encountered in my journeys can very easily make Chicago qualify for MOST BEAUTIFUL!

You all never let me down. I DO love your architecture and your museums and your parks and ALL that, on top of it!

You have a vote, for sure, from THIS Master!

Yup when I first moved to Chicago I lived in the Gold Coast. Lots of nice brownstones. Lincoln Park also has some really nice brownstones/greystones too.

Great site! I'll have to thoroughly spend time reading it all before a trip there, hopefully soon.

It boggles your mind how LA is ranked higher? LA has beaches, mountains, and national parks all within city limits. Yes, there are some not so attractive parts of LA, as there are many in Chicago…. There are several neighborhoods in Chicago that people would definitely not consider beautiful.

There is nothing urban about LA, except their ghettos. When I think of cities I think urban.
