Just trying to get some insight in 2022 about this area in Rogers Park. I want to stay close to the lake and there are many apartments available but I don't know how safe it is. A woman has been missing for 4 months and was last seen November 3rd, 2021 on Sheridan and Greenleaf near where she lived. Police have no leads and no one knows if she was abducted there or somewhere else. I want to be safe and any information regarding that area would be great.

One of the few more rougher neighborhoods on the northside, but its nothing like an Englewood/Austin/Garfield Park. Use common sense, keep your head on a swivel, and you'll be fine. Some of the cheapest rents up north is in rogers park.

Rogers Park's crime rate is below average for the City of Chicago. Only Uptown has a crime rate above the city average according to data I recently read.

Sheridan & Lunt is a high-visibility and high-traffic area. I feel very safe in the area at all times of the day.

The area around the Howard L is really the only area that gives me pause at this point, and really only at late night hours.

I don't see how that peculiar story is connected to the area's safety. Most likely, this story is someone who wanted to disappear or has been abducted by someone she knew.

Both Rogers Park and Uptown (The only "rough" neighborhoods up north) are all being currently gentrified, especially Uptown. There's new apartments and restaurants opening up all over Uptown. Same with Rogers Park

Most of Lake View and Edgewater community areas are not exactly posh, so I don't buy that Rogers and Uptown can be described as "rough" when compared to them.

I'm comparing these 2 neighborhoods to hoods like Lakeview (most of lakeview is rough? lol you serious?), Lincoln Park, and Roscoe Village. So in comparison to them yeah its kind of rough around the edges.

But compared to the rest of Chicago? Uptown and RP are great.

ehhh...West of Broadway has some of Chicago's most expensive and sought after homes right? Even with gentrification going full-blaze one of those streets isn't gonna be like Sheridan and Wilson (or Howard as you said) at night.

Lakewood-Balmoral is nice, but there isn't much there that has cracked more than $2 mil. It's an enclave that isn't reflective of Edgewater as a whole.

At no point did I describe Lake View as "rough." I'm just saying that describing Rogers Park as "rough" while holding up Lake View as significantly safer and luxurious is coming from a place of ignorance.

Just trying to understand....you said yourself Howard "gives you pause" so if they're that comparable, is there some area of lakeview where you would say the same?
