Not a neccessity, but definitley nice to have especially this year. It made it down to a chilly 70 humid a$$ degrees at about 5 AM this morning and is already back up near 90 so you go figure if you want AC.

The weird thing is that I can literally feel it getting cooler as I walk down the building stairs. It's uncanny how much a top floor sucks up heat.
I know exactly what you mean about coming down the stairs... The second floor of our house feels like it is at least 10 degrees hotter than the main floor. I'm starting to re-think my decision to put my jewelry studio up there (already hot + torch + kiln = misery). My husband and I have completely given up sleeping in our master bedroom since setting up a guest room in the basement. At least that stays cool, if not for that I wouldn't get any sleep.

In my building it feels about 20 higher in the hallway from the 1st to the 3rd.
