We are trying to piece together a travel plan. We'd arrive Midway Airport around 7:55pm. Then need to get to O'Hare terminal 5 for a departure at 12:05am.

I'd say we have from 8pm to 9:30pm or so to get our bags and exit Midway to make our way to O'Hare terminal 5.
I see it is around 35 miles.
What might Uber cost us?

I see some shuttle express and the lowest cost is $53 and has some restrictions on number of bags, waiting time, etc.
Thanks.

Seems doable assuming you arrive to Midway on time. Midway to Ohare is around 25 miles so I’d say an Uber/ Lyft would be in the range of $55-$75. So even if you leave Midway by 930pm you’ll be able to make that 12am flight.

How about the Orange line, transfer at Clark/Lake, to the Bkue line to Ohare. Should be able to do it within two hours. Cost $2.50 ($5.00 the opposite direction). If that's too slow I believe there is a shuttle bus.

I agree with this. Take the orange to the blue to save money. You should still have plenty of time at that hour, nobody really flies at midnight so Security should be almost no wait.

Not sure how they’d feel about hopping in the car with a random dude from these internet streets

Another option to use taxi from Midway to O'Hare. Price may be similar to shuttle. As soon as you get your bags should be easy.

At about 8pm with 4 hours to go at least traffic should be light. Trains may be 10 minutes apart then free Clark/Lake transfer.

I would be wary of taking CTA at that hour...it'd probably be fine, but if it were me, i'd spend the extra money on a cab or uber.

Think about it. Transiting at night on the el, then transferring downtown to another line while hauling bags (maybe a lot of bags since this appears to be an international flight from ORD). Talk about being an easy target. And then having to drag everything from the Terminal 2 basement where the Blue line comes in, up three levels to the shuttle train to get over to Terminal 5? I would not even consider this. Safety aside, this would be a nightmare connection carrying enough bags for an international trip.

Just take a taxi or Uber from MDW to ORD and stay safe and avoid the aggravation.
