Avondalist, good morning,

It would sound that way, with a Spanish-speaking accent, as well.

In fact, that might be how the CHEECH character would say it!!!

Things Are Tough All Over was partially filmed in Chicago, which is pretty cool!

Right. Now, let's pronounce the name of the State as "Illinnwah" as it should have been, not "Illinoise".

Illinoise is a tell. As is Ellinoy. Most people split the difference and pronounce is Illinoy.

Now I will give you the monstrosity that is Dess Plainz. Even Iowans know how to pronounce their state capital better than that.

The name Chicago is very similar to the Ganda (Nigerian) word "okukaawa" - sour, bitter.
The remainder of the word "okukaawa" seems to be related to the Maori (New Zealand) word "kawa".
Maori (New Zealand) «kawa»be bitter, sour, have an unpleasant taste.

The Italian word «acido» (achido) /acid, sour/ is related to Swahili word «uchungu» – bitterness, bitter taste.
Swahili is spoken in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia, Mozambique.

The Italian word "acido" (achido) /acid, sour/ is also related to the Telugu word చేదు (chēdu) – bitter, bitterness.
Telugu is a Dravidian language spoken by Telugu people predominantly living in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where it is also the official language.
The Telugu word lacks the first vowel.
The first vowel is also missing from the word "shikaakwa".
