Why isn't Domick's on the Poll?

Anyway.. For me, it's none of the above. I shop at Ultra Foods the most. There's only like 15 locations in Chicagoland or something.

A better title of the thread would have been : What grocery store do you shop at the most?

This thread is about Chicago not Chicagoland. There is only one location in the city.

Which newspaper has coupons? I've purchased a couple Sunday editions of the Tribune and haven't seen anything. Am I buying the wrong day or am I missing something?

The Tribune has the coupons and ads for Jewel, Dominick's and Treasure Island every Wednesday.

for the locavores:

A community-owned grocery store in Logan Square, Chicago | Dill Pickle Food Co-op | 3039 W. Fullerton, Chicago, IL

it's small, but it's nice to have a real food co-op on the north side again. it's been a long drought since Whole Foods assassinated Foodworks.

We shop mainly at Jewel (the one on Ashland and Wellington) and Whole Foods.

One thing I've noticed with Dominicks is they have a reputation for selling spoiled or about-to-spoil products. For instance, I've noticed that they label their organic milk's "Sell By" date almost 2 months after the date of purchase. I didn't even know it was possible to keep milk on the shelf for that long. Even though the warning flags were there, my wife still bought it. And sure enough, each time the milk was sour within 2 days of opening (with 2 months before the "Sell By" date). This has happened twice now (once from the Dominicks on Clybourn and Wrightwood and another at a brand new Dominicks in Lincoln Square).

While it's a lesson learned, I still think it's kind of fishy. There are a couple of blogs where people have similar experiences at Dominicks (selling spoiled products, failing to properly rotate items, etc.). I will never buy a perishable item from Dominicks again.

Most of our grocery shopping is done at Eurofresh Market in Palatine as well as Jewel.

Much of the organic milk in the Chicagoland area is ultrapasteurized and has a shelf life of 60-75 days from the date of delivery from the dairy plant.
