I had my car parked at Wabansia & Leavitt about 2 years ago when someone decided my car would look a lot better if the rear windshield was in the back seat. Some douche chucked an unopened beer bottle through it. Didn't take a thing - just decided to unpimp my ride.

You be ok in Chicago if you stay in neighborhoods like lincoln park, lakeview, wicker park/bucktown, and other northside neighborhoods. As far as the southside, you be ok in hyde park, beverly, and any neighborhood in the far southwestside. Just don't live in areas like englewood, roseland, and just about any neighborhood close to those areas.

Ironic, I moved from Buffalo LAST October and couldn't be happier. I find that there are a lot more opportunities here for jobs, etc. I find there to be a lot more things to do than depressing Western New York. Make sure you research what neighborhood you want to live near. Make sure its fairly close to work because commuting in Chicago is a pain (atleast from the NW side). I live on the far NW side of the city (near Ohare). I am still within the city limits but it feels more like suburbs out here ie my apartment has free parking for unlimited cars. I am looking to move to loop / west loop this fall and selling my car (I want to be closer to work).
