I also like that it has a 4am license. I used to live about 3 blocks away, and nothing beats stumbling home at 5am on a Sunday morning in late June/early July and the sun's already up. That also means that it doesn't really start to get busy until 2am (3am on Saturdays) after the other bars on Clark Street close.

My attorney is informing me that I shouldn't talk about how many times I've done just that.

5am on a Sunday morning is a fine time to be stumbling home in Chicago.

While I've never lived in stumbling distance of Fireside, it's just a five buck cab ride to Lincoln Square.

(Seriously, the gate to the Rosehill Cemetary over by Fireside gives me the heebie jeebies at night when it's all lit up.)
IMO the food at the Fireside sucks bigtime now. It used to be awesome, but the quality has gone down over the last 10 years bigtime.

BTW-I have had sex by that gate a few times. Maybe that is why you get the heebie jeebies.

I know TMO. Sorry. I could not resist.

I've lost my appetite.

You say you prefer the southeast/southwest/west coast. What do you like better about those areas?
For lack of better words to describe, I just prefer the "feel" of those regions. I grew up in the southeast on the gulf coast (and love it there), and I also fell in love with AZ and areas out that way during multiple stays. I have never been to the northwest, and I don't prefer the "feel" of the midwest or northeast. I guess the term "feel" could include a combo of such things as natural scenery, generalized social atmosphere, buidling/hosuing styles, generalized population "personality" and "style", speed of life, population density, etc. And of course, people can argue all day about which cities and regions offer the best regarding those categories - but it's all relative to each individual's perspective. Nonetheless, I still felt Chicago was a great city and people who live there should feel alot of pride ... it's just not for me personally.

To the OP: You only probably did things in about 5% of the city at most. I will not try to change your mind though.
