I'm visiting a friend next weekend and putting my car in a garage. According to her it's on "Rush and Delaware" -- any idea how much they will charge to keep it there for the weekend? Thanks

Generally anywhere up to $50/night. Have her scout out places for you.

Still think $50 a night is the going rate? Did not expect it to be that much. Do I have any cheaper options? Is the street that bad? I never go to Chicago; I have a fairly expensive vehicle so I'm really considering the garage, but I will listen to any other opinions I have to choose from. Thanks again.

I'd be surprised if it wasn't that expensive.

I'd park at one of the airport's satellite lots for cheaper and take the el to your friend's place.

You won't need the car while you're here anyway.

It's not that the street is "bad" so much as you'll never find an open parking space that isn't metered. Or an open parking space period.

I'd say the going rate for a garage is more like $35 per day. Another alternative is to park it on a side street in a safe, easy-to-park neighborhood along the Red Line, leave it there for the weekend, and take the Red Line to your friend's neighborhood. I've always had good luck parking it on a side street just west of Broadway Avenue near either the Berwyn or Bryn Mawr stops. If you do choose this option, just make sure you leave it on a street that does not require a residential parking permit. Another good reason to park just off the Berwyn or Bryn Mawr stop: no residential permit needed.

The Rosemont CTA park-n-ride lets you buy 15 hr periods in advance now. So you could pay for 60 hours, enough to last the entire weekend, and pay $12.

To be honest, I'm not sure, but they've got a bunch of signs for it around the Rosemont station.
