Associating cities to cars would make an interesting thread, but I would say

Chicago = Audi A4 Quattro
NYC = Porsche 911
LA = Cadillac Escalade

Default Concern about what's "hip"..

...and "cool" and "fashionable" definately fades as one gets older....when you eventually find that all this is pretty silly and unimportant. Times Square, at first, attracts because of its uniqueness, but eventually it repels because of its masses of people, and the fact that you can't walk through very easily. Chicago doesn't have this problem, and it should be thankful for it.

NYC--extreme mass density, expensive and exciting, but eventually tires you out

LA-flashy, exotic, full of fun and sunshine, yet a sense of "monotomy" with its unchanging weather; freeway congestion compares with NYC's Times Square

Chicago-in contrast, low-key and efficient; accomplishes most (or all) of the above without the publicity and fanfare; to those "in the know", one of the nation's best-kept secrets.

LA is a dirty crap whole full of overly vain fake people with low self esteem and delusions of grandeur.

new york is a great town, i love everything about it, but its costly. Chicago has equally great things about it and is far more affordable.

as far as car comparisons it goes like this.

LA- pontiac fiaro kit car ferrari. looks good from the outside but when your in it all its fakeness really shows through over its shiny outward appearance.

NY-lamborghini reventon, best on the market, great power looks good but maintanance is outrageous.

Chicago- lamborghini LP640 murcialago- looks and performs as good as a the reventon(ny)in everyway but costs less to maintain.

I'd say A4 undersells Chicago. More like an S4.

It wasn't my suggestion for the Chicago car, just saying I heart it.

Ugh. Dont stick NYC with that ugly-a$$ed Reventon comparison. NYC is more like the Alfa Romeo 8C Competezione.

I think the Reventon is an apt comparison for NYC: rough edges but sets the pace with a brutal elegance.

I love how people are always like "who would be envious of Chicago" or "Chicago gets to many blizzards and is always below 0".

I also find it funny that if you went to the general US forum and put any town, I mean any town in California against Chicago then the Californian town would win. Heck I could do a poll featuring a californian town with 500 people vs. Chicago and the CA town would win.
