Thanks for the all the advice offered on my previous thread (and elsewhere!). I was really looking forward to living in or near Andersonville, but the apt. we wanted fell through. By some miracle, we found a bungalow in West Ridge, a few blocks from Rogers Elem, in our price range. It feels a bit like the boondocks, but for a family of 6, it's hard to pass up so much space. Especially when it comes with a washer and dryer! The neighborhood is full of families with young children, so we should fit in just fine.

We move next weekend! Now if I could just find someone to buy or rent our house in Michigan, I would feel much better!

Oh man, I've heard nothing good about that Michigan housing market. Good luck to you! West Ridge is a bit boondocky as you said, but it's fine if you don't have to rely on an "L".

Well it is not boondocky when you consider where her husband will be working.

^^^ Wilmette is no Chicago, but I was raised in a town with a pop. of 2000. They just opened a family dollar there and the line was around the corner on opening day. Now THAT is the boondocks!

The El would have been nice, but I am staying home with a new baby for the next year. All I need is the grocery store, an elementary school, and a park. We do have a vehicle for occasional museum-going. All my kids can talk about is the Shedd Aquarium...
