Has the city of Chicago ever tried to incorporate the city of Evanston? Are there talks in the works to do this today? What's the likelyhood? Anyone?

I think thats why unincorporated areas incorporate.

Although, to be fair, many of Chicago's neighborhoods were actually separate towns once. I assume that the laws were different or they were unincorporated. Chet where are you?

Will never happen. Evanston is doing fine as is, and has no desire to be annexed. The days of Chicago annexing entire towns ended in the early 1900's (other than small areas around O'Hare). The only possible scenario I could see where Chicago annexes another town is if a town like Harvey is in serious financial trouble and needs to be bailed out, and Chicago needs land for anotehr airport or something that Harvey could offer.

Where I live in Logan Square used to be Jefferson Township until 1889, when the vast majority of annexation occurred. Mostly due to a desire to tie into Chicago's water and sewer system.

Chicago hasn't annexed another city/town since the 1960s, and I doubt any erstwhile autonomous city is anxious to become part of Chicago's political basketcasery.

I highly doubt it. Chicago doesn't need another piece of land that won't add anything to it (not saying Evanston or any other town wouldn't add to the city).

Yeah - county deeds are pretty interesting in the way they define a piece of land. Not only does it have Jefferson Township, but the subdivisions of the area use the names of the farmers who sold the land in the 1870's, so our land is on Attrill's subdivision of Stave's parcel, or something like that.

Yep, I live in Lakeview Township, which is much larger than the actual Lakeview neighborhood.

why would Evanston want to be a part of Chicago? And why ask about Evanston? Isn't that almost like asking should Chicago annex L'wood, Skokie, Niles, Oak Park, Cicero, Berwyn, Evergreen Pk, etc for the same reason?
