You don't need to drive vast distance in a big city to feel the effect of traffic. One of the things that ticks people off the most is living ten minutes from work, but having a 30 minute drive because of rush hours!

So earlier you were advocating that drivers who clog the expressways in the Chicago area should take the train or bus...or walk? Gee, is the train that new of a concept in Chicago? I thought it had been there for a while The buses must be a new concept as well. Walking? What's that?

Um OK enough sarcasm. Yeah, it's a nice idea that thousands more need to take those alternate modes of transp. but it just doesnt happen.

There will always be more stress in a big city. Isn't that kind of the the point of a big city? The whole rat race thing? Otherwise you might as well move to Montana and raise a crop of dental floss or some crap. No offense to any dental floss tycoons present. I'm sure that once you get used to living in that hectic, polluted environment you could lower your stress through massage, yoga, martial arts, etc. In San Diego, there is a tiny bit of big city stress, but we just surf it out or go play beach volleyball.
But there are definately more stressors from all sides in Chicago, new York, L.A. etc. The only reasons I could see for Chicago being labeled more stessful is the ungodly winters and the fact that they are more blue collar than a place like New York, and therefore it is just an overall harder place to make end's meet.

You want stress? Try living in a small town in Illinois being a chicken farmer, or laborer, or a small farmer worrying that you won't be able to secure financing for next year's seed and might lose the farm. I think being, say, a sales manager with a big company in the Loop might leave someone a lot less to worry about.

You come off as kind of naive. Have you spent any time in the northern cities, or anyplace besides San Diego? Ever lived in a small city or town or near a rural area?

You don't have a clue.

I wouldn't be so hard on you if you hadn't been such a dick in this thread.

I never understood how people can be overwhelmed by living in a big city or when people say driving in a big city is stressful. I don't know I just don't let many things bother me except a Bears or Brewers loss.
