Is anyone going to see the Christmas windows & tree at Macy's. (yes, it was difficult for me to actually spell the name M-A-C-Y'-S as opposed to Marshall Fields)

That used to be my tradition, to go downtown to see them every year, but, now that I live in Charlotte, it's a little hard...

But, from the shots on the WGN news, they look a bit lame this year. And, Tommy Hillfiger designed them? What's up with that?

We just pretend it is still Field's, we did it last year and will pretend again this year as we view the windows and eat by the tree in the Walnut Room. It has been a part of my Christmas traditions since the 50's, we have passed it down to our children and now grandchildren.
Tommy got his start at Field's, he is very connected to the store and the city. I am excited about seeing the Great Tree.

I will walk over on my lunch break one of these days to see if it's worth it. I used to go as a child and it brings back sweet memories, now that I have a child I would love to bring him. But it is sad that Carsons is gone and that Fields is now Macy's. They used to do such traditional windows, like Nutcracker-themed. Now they seem very flashy and commercialized.

Thanks. Yes, Costa, that was my impression on the little snippet shown on the news. It is such a shame.

I don't know that I would actually walk INTO the Macy's to see the tree...it is just to horrible what they did to Marshall Fields.

You know, except for the name, it still looks the same inside.

I walked by the windows this morning. They really are quite boring. It's certainly not worth a trip downtown just to see them, anyways.

you're right about that, i was expecting windows like you see in the movie "A Christmas Story." but they were pretty bland by my standards.

That is so sad!! Thanks for the reports, Costa & At1. Guess I won't fret over not getting there this year.

And, no, I will NEVER set foot inside a Macy's....not even here in NC. I have also given that direction to my two grown sons. Not after what they did to Marshall Fields....and, apparently are still doing. (regarding the windows).

SIGH
