In the 'burbs: Westmont on Ogden, Downers Grove on Main and Woodridge on 75th St.

In the city: Ashland/Division/Milwaukee and the South Loop Roosevelt store

Of the Dominick's I've been to both the meat and vegetable selection was better, though pricer. Both stores are heinously overpriced (We often go to Strack's now and buy ground sirloin for $1-2 less per pound than at Dominick's or Jewel)

I think it probably depends on two things: What you typically buy and look for, and what your frame of reference is.

Well if produce is your determining factor yeah Jewel is not that great with it;but neither is Dominick's. I would not expect great produce at either anymore.
I've been to dozens of Jewels in the city and suburbs, and they all disappoint me compared to the shopping options I've had in other cities. The best one I've been to is the one on Ashland and Wellington in western Lake View. That one sucks less than the others. And the Dominick's across from Cabrini Green is the best Dominick's in my mind. But the Jewel in Lakeview beats that Dominick's.

Kinda off topic now...but the new Jewel on DesPlains in probably the least "suckiest" out of all

Default Fox and Obel

Have any of you found and a food market that offers better quality of a large selection of foods ? Better meats and seafood, baked goods and prepared foods ? Let me know if you have.

Admit that prices are a little outrageous, but .....

As supermarkets go, you could do a lot worse than that one. And Jewel is hardly the worst Chicago supermarket chain.

I have looked far and wide and no, I haven't. For a few things Whole Foods is better, but overall F&O is the best I've seen in Chicago. Even though parking sucks now that River East exploded and the employees aren't what they used to be, I still shop there a few times a week.
