I had been ignoring this thread, but man did I miss out!

If Chicago law enforcement is good at anything at all, it's making people pay fines and fees. The key of coke suggestion was a good one, however. Better make it two keys.

Well, the last time my minivan was in Chicago, it had an expired Local Parking Permit sticker on it so they gave me a $50 ticket. But I actually live there and had a right to park there, just my sticker wasn't renewed. Thought, what a bummer until I saw the ticket and they - misspelled my vanity plates! - So I never paid it and was never bothered later by it!

you really need to sell some of your cars. I dont know how the heck you keep tabs on all 4! I think with renting a garage, parking tickets, permits, stickers the expenses arent worth it for 1 car let alone 4. But I also do have a huge car payment.

It makes NO sense to own more than one car in Chicago, even for a family--let alone a single person.

Default I think I know why Jesse69 has 4 cars to hide...

Jesse69, tell us the truth. Are you or are you not part of a national cross-dresser auto theft ring?

"The Birmingham police said a group of cross-dressing men had been stealing cars from dealerships in Alabama and perhaps Tennessee to drive to cross-dresser pageants across the Southeast"

This goes way beyond Chicago's efficiency in fees and fines. I believe using someone else's license plates is a felony. In any case you would almost certainly be arrested. License plate fraud makes it impossible for a cop to look up the real name tied to the vehicle. That will make the cops angry. They are going to assume you are engaging in this fraud to hide your identity in the commission of a further crime, and are going to take you down with extreme prejudice. They'll probably draw their weapons on you as soon as they discover the plate is a fraud.

Plus it sounds like they will also get you for felony possession of stolen license plates.

"No, there is no law against using a license plate not registered to you or your car. License plates are purely decorative."

When you sell a car you keep the plates or transfer them to the new owner. But incredibly all the plates from these Mercedes are in the possession of your landlord and still registered to the original owners.

Don't worry though, if you didn't steal them yourself, it is OK to possess them. The cops will understand.

If you can afford 3 cars, you can probably just afford to get three license plates for your three cars and city stickers.

Don't be a tool....just suck it up.

And you're not talking about "fake" license plates, you're talking about plates registered to other people in other states on other cars.

I'm not even going to get into all the laws you're talking about here, or how much time you'll do and the fines you'll pay if any of this is noticed by the police.

I think a few hundred a year sounds better than all the interstate felony fraud crap you're talking about...
