I have searched for threads similar to this with no avail! I'm a female student at Indiana University and have recently landed an internship downtown Chi for summer of 2009.

I've started the hunt for housing, without ANY luck. I want to be in Lincoln Park (I know its expensive, but I'm 21 and want to enjoy it.) I don't want to do DePaul housing/college housing/etc. Is there a better way other than craigslist to search for a 3 month summer lease?

ANY suggestions about anything summer apartment/lincoln park related would be much appreciated.

Thanks so much

Well, no management companies are going to give you a 3 month lease, so you will probably have to sub-lease an apartment from a tenant. Craiglist is probably the best, also you can check out the Chicago Reader. Rental agencies like Apartment People may be able to help you, but I don't know if they deal in sublets/short term.

I know you said Lincoln Park, but if you can't find anything there you should check out areas of Lakeview also. It is not as fancy as some areas of Lincoln Park but most areas are very nice, and in many places you will be closer to the lake and nightlife that you may be in LP.

I think subleasing would be your best bet as well. Since a lot of students would rather live at home during the summer and not pay rent you very well might have a good shot at that. I would post it up on craigslist and I would bet you would get some responses. Best of luck

I agree. There are plenty of sublets available in the vicinity of DePaul. Happy hunting!

I see a lot of these in the Depaul area but its too early for most of the students to post. There are other nearby areas such as Southport corridor, Wrigleyville, and Lakeview proper that are close by too.

Default Short term Summer rentals in Chicago.

I own and operate a nice rental apartment building in Chicago located in The Gold Coast. For the last ten years, there has been a shortage of safe and clean, short term apartments in ChicagoLand. I have been offering private apartment rentals for over 35 years. Email me if I can be helpful. If this is a TOS problem, please let me know and I will modify this post. Thank you.

Whether you rent from me or another building or sublet, start looking now because everything reaches FULL Occupancy by April 1, every summer! Good Luck.
