I need help from you guys about a possible location in Chicago, I'm from there but currently in Film school, to shoot an Urban Drama Film, it will be an independent film, and it's about escaping poverty stricken, gang violence, and social decay and getting a better life, something like boyz n the hood but even better.....Thank you!!!


what neighborhood, project, street will be the best place for an Urban drama Film

Division & Halsted. With the improvement in the area you should be safe to film in that location. Just cut out the 25 year old girls clutching their starbucks.

I can't shoot there it doesnt' look right enought it doesn't have the housing projects, or abandoned places, where it looks like its tought growing up there.

There are still a few projects up in Cabrini. The surrounding areas might not exude the urban decay you are looking for, but you should definitely include some footage there.

Film down Madison in East Garfield Park.

Well then exactly what kind of urban drama are you looking to film? "Trixie spills her Starbucks on her favorite Urban Outfitters cami while circling around her neighborhood looking for a spot to park her Jetta" type of urban drama?

Like the movie city of God, I've should of said where should the boy be from???? And what neighborhood should he try to escape from, from the social decay, and gang warfare....I probably do Englewood, and do some of the shots in a project housing.

There's another project on Cermak and State, Ickes Homes or something like that. Looks really crappy every time I drive by. Although I haven't read about it having the sort of atmosphere you want (lots of violence).
