What? Who said you'd wear these to work or a trendy night club? As I previously posted, these waterproof boots are only meant for your commute in the slush then they go straight into plastic inside your cute, oversized hobo handbag. These boots are only for the outside. They are PRACTICAL yet not overly hideous like the huge "over-the-shoe galosh." IMO those, like crocs and sneakers w/suits, should be illegal for anyone over 12 years old. Those remind me of big Frankenstein shoes... I picture an impeccably dressed woman (who normally wears $500 shoes) in a nice suit, great gabardine overcoat, and then pow - below the knees, she's Herman Munster. This is the kind of stuff that gives Chicago a bad fashion name...

p.s. In case you forgot, here's another look at the Frankenstein boots...

Nice inside joke.

Hilarious! I think those of us who get the joke spend too much time on city-data.

we also don't wear $500 shoes in the snow- point is buy a cheaper pair, leave the expensive pair in a bag until you are some place dry- but then again some "smart" people lack common sense

For the hedgie crowd, $500 shoes ARE the cheaper pair.

You're a man? I'm always wrong about these things....

Admittedly, men's boots are not my expertise but I found these by Ugg. They're basic and waterproof but not completely hideous....

Ok, here's a woman's waterproof boot I like better...

La Canadienne Mango - Free Shipping (http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7430558.html - broken link)

It's $350 but if you normally pay $500 for shoes, it's a bargain...

Want to add that I think men can get away w/the ugly over-the-shoe galoshes. I just don't think a woman can pull it off... Sorry if that makes me sexist.

If you scroll down the page to the "Urban X" model and read the description you'll find:
