In the past, and sometimes present too, I have been walking in the snow from my office to the car, or from one office building to another for business meetings, or from my car to the bars, in my designer shoes. I love manolos, louboutins, d&g, etc, and most of my shoes are $500 or more a pop. I have ruined quite a few pairs in the past because of the slushy snow and salt.

How do you handle wearing designer shoes in the snow?

Would argue that one of the great advantages of Chic is that you can go straight from your auto to a climate controlled garage, connecting you to whatever restaurant/office you would like to visit. Sidewalk traversal is for the third world types.

Default Winter weather demands winter shoes?

Do you wear flip flops all year long too?

My wife has many pairs of boots that can handle the slop and still be fashionable. The shoe section at Nordstrom is one of her favorite places on earth. I hope she has not spent $965 on too many Jimmy Choo 'Ivy' Suede Kitten Heel Boot - - Nordstrom

The "over shoe" option is something that more than a few commuters resort to as well: https://www.theshoeworks.com/store/agora.cgi?cart_id=4936549.32619*qS37j5&product=NEO S#null (broken link)

I have this same issue... I know it's a pain but in some instances can you just change into cheaper boots for the walk? Not galoshes but a less expensive (though not unattractive) leather boot you can easily throw in your bag? You could also regulary treat your shoes and send them to the cobbler for repairs (it's amazing what cobblers can fix). Also, certain materials wear much better in winter (avoid the $1300 Manolo tall suede boot at Barneys - it could not handle our winter). I'm worried about your shoes...

Chet, That Jimmy Choo boot cannot handle the salt... And that "over shoe" option is much too ugly IMO.... No offense
