You know I think we may be neighbors, or close to it. Personally I would consider it Pilsen till a block or so after Damen.

Looking at Craigslist it loks like you can afford a small, older apt in Ukrainian Village, which I would feel much safer about, and then you'd be a very easy bus ride south.

on the Pilsen boundaries - so the 18th pink line isn't even technically Pilsen?
Crazy, I almost always thought of the area to Damen as Pilsen.

I am definitely looking in Pilsen and Ukrainian Village.

Thanks everyone!

Yes, and if you tell people "I live in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood" you'll either get a blank stare, or people thinking you're saying you live downtown in a creative way, or a "where the hell is that?" I've never heard anyone refer to that area as "Heart of Chicago" even though that name is on some city neighborhood maps. Most everybody just refers to it as Pilsen. (I've seen news stories about that area refer to it as Pilsen.)

I guess they are all hipsters then. Why anyone would want to associate themselves with that crap hole even though they do not live in it is beyond me.

I guess I am going to start calling my neighborhood Lincoln Park or the Loop... Better yet I am going to call it downtown.

Yeah, like I just moved to Chicago like 2 years ago from the burbs or Nebraska. I can call the neighborhood I live in anything I want to without any kind of rationalization or historic evidence to back my statement up. The landlord and realtor told me it was in Lincoln Park so they must be right!

Yeah it is true the name Heart of Chicago is dying unfortunately. But until the city and others officially remove it from their records and map it will still be Heart of Chicago.

I'm the closest thing to a hipster in my office. When I say "everyone" I mean a group of mostly female, mostly Mexican people. I understand your point but Heart of Chicago is slipping out of common usage it would seem.
by the way, "crap hole"?
