The august 4th storm was unreal, the whole 2008 summer storms were so creepy, i cannot recall a summer as violent as this one.
nice to watch from my couch far from the windows, with the lights off, and some candles on, and the crank radio. in the middle of a crowded city.

OK is it just me or are we having a lot of thunderstorms this year?

Also it seems like every time a big huge heat wave or whatever builds up in the south we're like right on the edge of it so that we just get storm after after storm after storm??

Chicago always seems to be right in the middle of the cold and warm fronts.
Even in winter the southside gets rain/snow while the northside gets pure snow.

I LOVE Chicago storms - the loudest lightning I've ever heard! I moved away for a few years and missed the storms greatly. There do seem to be a lot this summer.

I've actually managed just fine this summer with very little A/C usage. A first-floor apartment and lots of tree canopy no doubt help. What sucks about this summer is that the mosquito crop has been bountiful, and the little bastards find me exquisitely tasty.

The nicotine and alcohol in my blood and skin drives them away. They die before they can even bite me.

I'm sick of you taunting me with anecdotes of a first floor retreat.

It has been incredibly humid, imho. I do not like this very much.
