Default stupid IS forever

My life is a constant discovery of this theorem.

If you did the below, you'd have a Chicago with no soldier field, or Chicago Bears, no Chicago Bulls or United Center, No thriving Wicker Park, No Chicago White Sox.

So, I take it you live in Lincoln Park, you are younger than 27, your personal annual income is below 70k (Which you have always felt was a lot), you are a transplant, and you love the Cubs, and the scariest thing to you is Curt Schilling coming and putting testicles on a team that has blown opportunities for years..

Default Chicagoan Living in NYC Currently

Well, its ironic that I have that exact situation. New York was pretty difficult getting use to and the attitudes of the citizens made it so much more difficult. However, being from Chicago I found opportunity here since there was a lot more people. I made money here, but the cost of living is very high as well. Not to mention, NYC is a business itself from the parking citations to the high $8-$5 tolls. Plus, its very hard to find real people here! I have had a lot of guys that worked for me, but they are around until they get something then their phone numbers change quickly. Many New Yorker's are inconsiderate and they are not aware when you are helping them.

I was so used to the friendly environment of Chicago. However, I drive back and forth to Chicago since my whole family is there. Being in NY you can not depend on anyone because most people dont care about anything. Often you would meet people from different states and if the have not been converted, you may feel refreshed to meet someone with manners and no attitude. Maybe you guys should save a lot of money and then buy a 4-unit building and rent it in Chicago, and then both of you could visit CHI when schedules permit until times change. Be careful though sometimes when a man wants to be somewhere and he feels he's bening held back, he could end up hating you for it! Seriously!

I've been in New York for 15 years (I'm 30 now) but this is my second home. I have a job here that I havent been layed off from, and if I drop my job as a graphic designer for the fashion industry to move to Chicago during this economic crisis, I feel as though I'm screwing myself over. I looked on some job boards and there's not much fashion jobs in Chicago! My boyfriend said that the rent will be 200$ each instead of the 1000$ each we pay in NY and he said life is more relaxed there and would be good for me because I am always stressed.
I know I'm 30, but in NY, we don't really have to grow up but I admit going out to bars and clubs, hussling for connection to get that small "fame" is getting old. I'm scared that if I move to Chicago though that I am going to fall into depression from the change of pace of life. I'm also scared that because of the economy, I might not find a job and I might have to start working as a waitress (not that there's anything wrong with that but that's like going backwards for me as a career step).
He's going to move back to Wicker Park, which reminded me of Williamsburg BK where theres cute cafes and shops etc. and he really wants me to move there with him, or we'll go back to the long distance thing, and our relationship will probably fizzle away and become memories. I can go both ways, get over my boyfrien and keep hussling in NY, or buckle down and try something new in Chicago. I'm just really scared of things that are unfamiliar with me......any suggestions?
