By no means am I some expert on Camden. I've only experienced Camden briefly in two ways: (1) Taking the Amtrak from New York to Philladelphia (the route takes you through Camden) and (2) Driving in one time from Philly to see if my impressions from the train were as bad as reality. It was the worst looking urban neighborhood I had seen in the U.S. Just had a really spooky look and vibe. And I know it's always near the top of the crime stats each year.

OK, thanks for the clarification. I've seen some pictures and it does look bad, I can only imagine how it feels to drive through.

I did a "Camden driving tour" fairly recently as well. What struck me about the place was how empty it looked. And this was in the middle of the afternoon too. It's like there was hardly anyone there. Nobody was walking around on the streets. Shiny brand-new-looking LRT platforms had nobody on them. (Isn't light rail supposed to fix everything??). Not a lot of traffic. It was like I was in a movie called The 'Hood Has Eyes or something. I've never seen anything like it.... then again, I haven't been to Detroit yet either.

Having driven through LA, NYC, Philly, I can say that LA is by far the worst. Philly was surprisingly bad, but not as bad as Chicago, and Chicago was worse than NYC, of course, I don't spend a lot of time in the Bronx, which I hear is worse than Brooklyn, manhattan, long island areas id stick to.

Must be. I love Philly, but the bad parts of Philly are REALLY bad. Same with Baltimore.
