Seriously, WTF.

Just another project in the works.

I drove around some new developments in West Haven Sunday afternoon and they already have the blue lights up, with lots of people hanging out on street corners and I personally saw a few drug deals.

I know this is a mixed income, but it seems to me there are alot of former CHA residents in there. I would personally not live there, and I live in Humboldt Park, albeit on the Logan Square side.

This development already has residents will bars on their windows and it is brand-new with new buildings being built. Bounded by Western and Damen and Madison and Lake, it is a future ghetto if not already one.

So sad to see my tax dollars being used to create another project, though it is being sold as mixed income. Who in their right mind would choose to live around an area like this that has other options. I feel sorry for any idiot that buys a place in this area.

Well that area was already "ghetto" to begin with. I would assume they would try to entice people with it being so close to the loop and cheap rents/housing. I personally would not want to be walking around there at night and I have a few times.

I noticed this last night driving through to west town from Logan Square. I was driving east on Madison from Kedzie with my roommate. I came across these developments and my first thought was "Oh my, what are they doing here? Looks like someone is putting a lot of money into this neighborhood."

Then, as I got closer, I noticed how nothing had changed. It does seem rather pointless to position those buildings there. I really think that a lot of work on crime and neighborhood patrol needs to be done in areas like that before people start putting up more section 8 condos...just to cover them with steel bars and create another Cabrini-Green.

Hey, that's the neighborhood we lived in when I was born. Nice Irish neighborhood------60 years ago!

I was at my Dad's the other day and he found the building on Monroe we lived in on Windows Live Local; it was one of the few on the block still standing.

Default gentrification

Gentrification never had a chance. I feel sorry for thosr who bought around United Center as I almost was one. Too bad westhaven developers would rather house tax users than taxpayers. With this development gentrification in that area is dead west of damen.
