Whoa whoa whoa. I love Louisiana, especially New Orleans (despite all the violence). I'm just ready for a change. I'm sick of the sweltering heat in the summer and actually look forward to the cold in the Midwest. Not sure how I'll do with the snow, but you'll never know if you don't try.

There's not many jobs for me here. The big city is where they all are. At least, I'm hoping that's where they still are.

Thanks for all the opinions. And if you have any advice, please feel free to share!

I'm in the public relations/communications field. I'm hoping to stay in the industry, but I wouldn't be opposed to branching out to something else.

New Orleans is the only part of Louisiana I really love. But I suppose I don't know as much about the rest of the state.

That's pretty much what I do (internal communications). When I was casually looking a couple of months ago there were a several decent options, but I'm not sure if that's changed now.

Are you early-, middle- or late-career? I'm in that 2-5 years of experience category if that helps at all.

I'm still in my early career. I've been out of school for almost a year now with a full-time job.

I've seen a few decent jobs out and about right now, which I think is a good sign. We'll see if I can get any interviews.

Guys, the OP already lives in Louisiana, so your opinions on it (either good or bad) aren't really helpful. Stick to the topic at hand please.

I too am considering a move to Chicago. I currently live in NY and it is becoming even more ridiculously expensive to live here. I'm an excutive assistant to top level management out her and I wanted some insight as to the job market outlook in Chicago. My husband and 4 year old daughte would be joining me in Chicago as well. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
