They weren't sent to Detroit or New York they were sent to private businesses -- and if you think many Chicagoans don't own pieces and have their fingers in the financial (or for that matter automaking) pie you are kidding yourself.

Just came across an article on the Trib's website today that says $200m of AIG's money went to a company here.

And those individuals will use the money to employ people out of goodwill? I think the auto and banking industries will hire many people that would otherwise be out of jobs.
