How is it safety wise? Just considering places to move in the city and am not too familiar with that area. Thanks.

personally i'd rather live west of the metra track in ravenswood. if you'll be taking the brown line you should be fine but i always try to avoid the wilson red line stop when at all possible. that whole area on wilson by the college is a mess.

It's fine. That said, there's a notably seedy area immediately to the east centered around Wilson and Sheridan or Broadway.

To add: I would avoid going east of Clark however around Wilson IMO.

Making the search criteria 8 blocks around an address is a little bit misleading to someone not familiar with the city since the OP would not how a few blocks (and in this case a mile) can make a huge difference in safety.

When is the last time you have been in that area? It was ok between Ashland and Ravenswood 10 years ago even and has only gotten better.

ha, like 3 days ago. i was only driving through on lawrence though. i just think the ravenswood/lincoln square sector offers a lot in the way of commercial amenities while still keeping it's close net community feel. That part of Ashland is not as well mentained IMO. And to me even 5 or 6 blocks is too close to the kind of rock slinging/prostitution/generally undersirable activity that goes on along Wilson and Broaway.
