Is that a word?? I never correct grammar on here (though occasionally I'm super tempted) but I can't let that slide.

The word is exorbitant. You must have copied my post and changed the word to embarass me.

Curse that "last edited..." line!

Yup I caught you, you sly dog!

I can't help thinking about that non-word though. It's so funny. If it were real I wonder what it'd mean?

Since when did tipping 20% become the standard? When my father was an adult, the standard was 10%, when I was a child it was 15%, then it got bumped up to 18% when I became an adult and now 20% in New York. 30% on a bar tab? How silly is that tipping someone $4.50 to spend 20 seconds fixing a $15 cocktail?

Sorry, that doesn't make any sense. 15% before tax is added and no more. Tips are already perfectly indexed with the price of the food/wine at the restaurant (and thus what should be the quality of the service) and inflation. In fact, more so since food prices rise at a faster rate than the headline number you see on the news.

It's nice if it makes you feel good, but you are just vastly overpaying for the exact same experience the guy next to you got for half the tip.

Because I get my drinks long before anyone else in the place, and when I come back I'm remembered and get better service than anyone else. Also, at some point, that person may be in need of a service that I sell, and I'll get that business.
