I'm graduating college this year and Chicago is on my list of places that I am considering moving to.

I'm 22, very single, and a female. I was curious as to how the dating scene was in Chicago?

It's great as there is so much to choose from. One key indicator is the number of major universities combined with 20 somethings relocating here due to the number of employers. So many young professionals that are single.

Of course, we have the normal bar scene, in addition to all the other ways of meeting folks: through friends/work, gym, activity clubs, churches, internet sites, whatever rocks your boat.

^Most people will say they are taken if you are ugly. So its best not to move here unless you are beautiful or rich or both. That way you'll be in the game instead of being left out.

I'm a 22 year old single male moving here for work and was wondering the same thing. Being that it is such a big city I'd assume you can meet tons of different people from universities, work, etc.

Well I guess it's a good thing I'm attractive then...

I'm just more so curious to the types of guys that are mainly in Chicago. I mean I know that there are all types of people wherever you go but I'm sure there's a general stereotype.. ??

Of course there isn't really a stereotypical Chicago guy, but there are a lot of guys who have recently moved to Chicago from Michigan or Wisconsin, and who are more "Chicagoan" than native Chicagoans now. You can tell them by their enthusiasm for the things that Chicago is best known for, which you can read about here:

I very much doubt that.

Really? I put "Chicagoan" in quotes because I was saying that the new arrivals are superficially copying the kind of things one sees about Chicago on the Food and Travel channels.

I recommend that you avoid Avengerfire.

We've all made out with him, it's something you do when you come to Chicago. Do the deed, feel the regret, never talk about it again. We understand.
