The 2005 article by Dave Newbart in the Sun Times that is linked is the article you have been referring to. All of this rhetoric and it turns out that both fan bases are pretty similar.

Regarding the class warfare thing, I've never voted for a Democrat for President, and wouldn't think of voting for Todd Stroger or the mayor. Does that mean I can't root for the Sox? I'm as working class as you want, just way too libertarian to be a Democrat anymore. The whole thing is now beyond ridiculous, who is or isn't allowed to root for the Sox or Cubs.

You're okay.

I don't think anyone really cares about this stuff. Just something to b*tch about when there's not much else to talk about.

Cubs fans are annoying.

They have this weird sense of pride for a team that hasnt even been in the
world series in forever

If that's your logic... no team would have fans.
Since you say they're not allowed to be proud of their team.

Is it strange how similar people living in the same city can be? Gimme a break. This is getting silly.

Having not yet experienced a game here...yet...I have to say Dodger fans...
A couple years ago we were at the Freeway Series at Angel Stadium...The Angels stomped the Dodgers...so as we're leaving...there were a few fairly drunk Dodger fans....20-25yr old mexican talking all kinds of crap...there was a kid in front of us...probably about 12...spouted off to them..."Why are you talking sh**...your team lost!" I think all of us in the vicinity thought he was gonna get stabbed...we all ushered him out pretty quick....Violence at those series is pretty normal...
Going to a game Dodgers/Giants....ugliness....
