first time poster...

im looking to purchase a condo downtown (in the streeterville, near north side area). looking for a nice, not-too-old building with nice amenities. im a students so location is pretty important - have food, coffee shops, deli/grocers within walking distance. would also be nice to live the mag mile (within 5 blocks or so). ive looked at buildings like 222 pearson, the hancock, and 474 lake shore drive. i wasn't impressed by pearson or the hancock (but loved the location) because the buildings are pretty old and they look like they are falling apart but i liked 474 lake shore. does anyone here have any other recommendations? the broker im using isn't cutting it (out of 6-7 buildings he's shown, ive only like the 474 lake shore one). so any recommendations on that front would be awesome too. thanks!

Trust me from experience. The 211 E. Ohio is unbeatable in terms of amenities within the building. I do not know many that has indoor/outdoor pools, a private gym club, etc. Just amazing. Tell your broker to show it to you. You wont be dissapointed.

How much are you willing to spend?

There are literally thousands and thousands of condos that have gone up in Chicago the past 6 years.

I was reading how the city has had over FIFTY highrises completed just since 2000.

Here is a link to a list of 53 highrise buildings currently under construction or starting contruction in downtown Chicago at this time. Most of them are condos.

It's a good base to see what's out there, and where they're located.

also look into museum park in the south loop, all high rises are under 7 years old with unobstructed views of lake and downtown within walking distance to the L, the metra electric, grant park, starbucks, Fox and Obel (coming soon), Whole Foods, Target, Home Depot etc..
