Anyone know anything about Lake Meadows and Prairie Shores? Both located in the South Loop/Near South areas.

They seem like a great deal. approx. $900 for a highrise one-bedroom w/ free parking. But, how is the area and has anyone on the board have any experience with these complexes?

Sorry for creating another thread, but I figured this question may possibly benefit someone else as well.

Thanx in advance.

I don't have experience with those specific complexes, but they are in the "up and coming" Bronzeville neighborhood. Thing is, that neighborhood has been "up and coming" for over 10 years now. There is some indication that it's now finally on is way. But the neighborhood played host to some of the most notoriously awful public housing in the country up until just a few years ago (these places made Detroit look like a picnic in the park) and the area still hasn't ironed out all its urban issues just yet. There are still spots of public housing here and there, but it is much lower density than the recently demolished high-rises and the worst of the problems are now gone.

I found some feedback on Lake Meadows here and Prairie Shores here. Both look to be a pretty mixed bag.
