Yeah, my concern wasn't with parking really so much as it was with traffic. We were up there last week looking before/during the Cubs/White Sox game and I really found myself wishing we had ditched the car. But my appointment is at 11 and the game is at 12...do you think if I got there at like 10:30 I'd be OK trafficwise? Or do you think I need to be there even earlier? I don't mind being on the el for an hour, but that would be my limit.

I grew up right by Wrigley, and as this is a 12 pm game, try to arrive by 10:30 and you should be fine
(it's not like bars are spilling out at 10:30 am), and just plan on killing any spare time at a coffee shop or something.

If you can give a cross street I can probably give you better advice on where to look for parking.

Detour is not so much the distance, but the time:

24 minutes drive: from: 41.811499,-87.763252 to: 1060 W Addison St, Chicago, IL 60613 (Wrigley Field) - Google Maps

Add about an hour:
from: 5600 S Cicero Ave, Chicago, IL 60638 (Chicago Midway Airport) to: 1060 W Addison St, Chicago, IL 60613 (Wrigley Field) - Google Maps

OK, first of all, the "24 minutes" is accurate maybe at 3 in the morning. Second, I suggested he park at 35th and Archer, not detour to Midway. Third, "add an hour?" Come on. Driving directly to Lakeview on game day may or may not be a better alternative (the OP's own experience suggests he wants nothing to do with it), but let's not bulls#&t about the other options.

actually, the more I'm thinking about it, I'd suggest shooting to arrive even earlier, maybe 9:30, and relaxing and getting breakfast somewhere. Definitely no shortage of fantastic breakfast options all over Lake View, but especially near Wrigley.

Drover:

The CTA calls the El "rapid transit" but it ain't -- the average speeds, factoring time at the platforms, are pathetic.

Any Saturday morning before 11AM that there is not a Bears game you can get from I-55& Central to the Lakeview is under a 30 minutes. Really. I have done it dozens of times.

The El is not a time saver. It if was maybe they would have better ridership...

I think we need more location info to really help - Lake View is massive. It makes a huge difference (re: the CTA) if the apartment is right off the L, or if it's a 15 + minute walk away, etc.

I apologize for deserting this thread...my internet went down on Friday afternoon and I am just now getting back to this.

Anyways, I ended up driving as a friend wanted to go along at the last minute and I had to pick her up in Wicker Park. Traffic didn't seem to be as bad as it was the last time I was up there, but still, I just think I am not cut out to drive in the city. Which is ok, since I'm selling my car this week when we move in.

I guess I find it a little surprising you can make it from 55 to Lakeview in under 30 minutes...I'd be curious to know which route you take. It took me about 20 minutes to get from 55 to the Milwaukee exit on 90/94 Saturday morning, and I really thought it would have taken alot more than 10 minutes to get to Lakeview from that point, given the flow of traffic on 90/94 at that time.

Thanks for all of your suggestions - I've found this board so incredibly helpful as we have been preparing for our move!

Default Rosemont to Wrigley Field

Hi All! There will be about 5-6 of us staying in Rosemont for a tradeshow in July. We want to go check out a Cubs game on 7/19. We will have access to a car and I know about the trains but here's a question. With us being all females, we wanted to take our car and park so on the return trip we wouldn't be walking by ourselves at night. I read about parking at the Devry University and there being a shuttle that runs you over to the stadium and we wanted to do that.

However, what would be the best way to get there for a 705pm game? Our tradeshow doesn't end until 6pm so leaving super early is not an option (but we don't care if we are a little late). Is it best to take I-90E or West Irving Park Road? The Devry is at the corner of Addison and Western I believe.

Thanks in advance!!
