That part of (Richmond and Belmont) Avondale is better than other parts. I would not have suggested it if I felt uncomfortable with that portion of it. There is all kinds of new construction near it.

The other one I included so you can see that pricing of apartments in the area of the place you were looking at near Addison and Keeler is cheaper than you think.

Edison Park is filled with cops, firefighters, and other city workers. It is one of the best and safest parts of the city. You are a hop, skip, and a jump from Park Ridge there.

It also has four great public schools in the area -Ebinger,Norwood Park,Edison Park, and Onahan.

Note:Technically the address (Palatine and Harlem) of this rental is in Norwood Park West, but it is right near the boundary with Edison Park. Norwood Park West is very comparable to Edison Park.

I'm going to check out the one in Avondale (Richmond at Belmont) you posted. Thanks again for that one!

I'll take your word for it that it's safe in that part of Avondale. So, it would be safe for me (and, maybe a baby/child ) to take the Belmont bus west to catch the Belmont Brown line...but, NOT safe to take the Belmont BLUE line to the east. Would you say that this part of Avondale is as safe as Roscoe Village or Old Irving Park? We're at Henderson & Damen now in RV.

I'm also going to take a look at this one at Belmont & Francisco (2 blocks east); Chicago Apartment Hunters (http://chicagoapartmenthunters.com/realty/index.php?action=listingview&listingID=1308 - broken link)

And, (FYI) this is the one on Keeler at Addison in Old Irving Park we really like (but, seems to be too pricey for the area); +DEN! IN-UNIT W&D; HWD FLOORS THROUGHOUT; TONS OF SPACE! (90/94) (http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/apa/1177987948.html - broken link)

I've been excluding Avondale from my search. I guess I'll add this area. Do you have specific street borders to stay within?

You've been an ENORMOUS help!!!

cm143, if you're still looking, there's a 3-bedroom that just became available nearby for $1000/mo. Let me know if you want the contact info.
